Report Central

ReportCental is a centralized reporting application. In traditional reporting - reports are always part of an application. Developers developing the application based on a specific requirement from the business user develops a set of reports and include them in the application. The problem with this approach is that these reports are hardwired and produce a standard set of data items, with parameters always pre-determined. The business users need to approach the developers for any change in the dataset or the output. Though almost all reporting tool does have the same limitation if we can develop a reporting infrastructure that lends to easy manipulation of the report metadata, new reports with varied dataset can be developed within no time. Datalytique's ReportCentral is such a tool that allows the creation of metadata that can be stored and reused any number of times to create flexible reports. ReportCentral is a web-based reporting application which makes it available throughout the enterprise. Users can be granted or denied access to reports by the administrator. The developers can login to ReportCentral and create new reports. The administrator can then make those reports available to the users as required. ReportCentral is thus a simple flexible system that can be used within an enterprise effectively.

Workflow Diagram

1. Create Data source (Report administration → Data source → New data source)
2. Create Report (Report administration → Data source →Report designer)
3. Map the report and data source (Report administration → Data source → Report data map)
4. View the report (Dashboard → Select the category which you select while creating report)

Dashboard

A dashboard is a visual display of the most important information needed to achieve one or more objectives; consolidated and arranged on a single screen so the information can be monitored at a glance. Dashboard can be broken down according to Categories and Reports.

Role Management

Users with the User Admin role can add other users to Database. New user information, such as the firstname, lastname, login name. A user with the User Admin role can delete other users, removing user’s roles and privileges.

Report Administration

A report administration is usually done by a person with an administrative function.  Common examples are office secretaries and administrative delegates. Those with the higher position such as managers and supervisors are also eligible to create an administrative report. Users with the User Admin role can create a Datasource, New Report and give permission for users to access the reports.

Help Settings & Help Content

Users with the User Admin role can create a help document. These help documents are always visible to all users.
